So which would you rather have? The PSP or the DS?
The poor PSP is getting waylaid anymore from biased critics it seems. I just read an article about 2 weeks ago where they were making fun of the PSP's ability to hold songs, internet capabilities, and etc because of the iphone, ipods, and such. Now, just this week I read an article from the same people who were praising the new Nintendo DSi for it's new ability to do the same exact things the PSP could years ago (hold songs, internet, wider screen, etc).
Call me old fashion, but I'll take a PSP over the DS any day. I rather have good old buttons than that stupid stick. My little sister has a DS and I've tried playing with it, but I just don't like it. I like more games for the PSP too. Most of them are re-releases of classics or remakes of great games. I loved playing Megaman Maverick Hunter X on it.
My friend Mark and I are always making fun of this saying "Kids these days! They don't know a good game anymore! Back in my day, we have a fancy stick thingy, we just had buttons and a d pad. And we didn't have any fancy 3d graphics, we had 8 amd 16bit! Mario was made of some pixels and we were happy with just that!" lolz
I'm personally very happy I was part of the generation that grew up with the very first game consoles. I think we have more of a respect for what goes into games. I still love my good old Sega Genesis <3

DS for me.
The stylus just feels natural to me, plus there's more games I enjoy playing on the DS then on the PSP like The World Ends with You, WarioWare, Pokemon (Yes, I still play Pokemon and I'm proud of it), and of course, it plays all my old GBA games too. So that's a big plus for me.

Since I own a DS, I'm going to have to side with it. They both have there issues. I hate the Wifi limitation of the DS, I can't even use the free, non-secure Wifi at my school which makes me angry. I also can't use it at my house because we use a different security interface than what the DS allows for. (We have WPA encoding while the DS can only handle WEP and nonsecure sources.)
When I was debating which one to get, I looked at the game choice and that's what made it for me, since DS had Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and others, which I really enjoy playing.
I reserve comment for the DSi until I see one. I'm not going to buy it since I already have a perfectly good DS system but right now I don't like it. It phases out the GBA games by taking away the slot and tries to much to be more but adding a camera and an internet browser.
What ever happened to a game console/ handheld that just played games? They need to stop trying to make an all purpose system, right now it's not working.
@shadow- My friends and I always do that, kids these days don't know what a truly good game/ system is. My one friend has a game room with 6 or 7 game systems in it, though she has a 360 and a PS2, we always play the N64, it is one of the best game systems ever created in my opinion, with many classic games. Grew up in that generation too, nothing beats a classic Game Boy!

I own neither.
If I were to buy one first, I'd rather go with the PSP. I dreamt of getting it for 69$ (HAR HAR YEA FRICKING RIGHT), but that aside, I'd prefer to throw money at Playstation, because it seems to retro-program longer than Nintendo.
Though I have to be honest, not many games are interesting me these days.
I am kind of from the "these kids these days, don't know what goes into Video Gaming" generation, but I didn't actually own a console until a few years ago. My wonderful friend who showers me with marvelous yet extravagant gifts gave me her handmidown playstation ones (yes, two of them, one wouldn't save), a nintendo 64, and a gameboy colour... then later purchased for me a Gameboy SP (red, like the one in the commercial, who's keys say "Start Mayhem" hence why I named mine Mayhem) and an awesome PS2Slim. I got myself a Gamecube. Why? Because it had a zoids game. *islame* But yea, PS retroprogrammed a lot, so I'd give them my money.
I do want a wii though and I still hate saying that. (CAN I PLAY WITH YOUR WII aaaauuuuughhhh!) Mainly because I don't have much shelfspace where the gameconsoles are, and the wii would fit better than a gamecube and N64.
GEB I hate the name of that console though. I think i'll paint mine yellow.

I know seriously what is with Nintendo and the innuendo game consoles. If I remember correctly the DS's slogan was "Touching is Good" now we have the Nintendo Wii. *shakes head at Nintendo* and I thought you were supposed to be wholesome and geared towards children....

XD EDIT: Does anyone else see what the position of the remote and balls in the picture make up? I'm guesing that was intentional.

Well, in Nintendo's defense, the PSP adverts in America were bad. "It's like nuts you can play with outside!" And there were dust balls, I forget their innuendo. VGCats did a comic on them. XD; I choked at that "balls" advert. XD Have you heard about the problem that the Wiimotes had with the straps breaking? Someone fixed that problem with a toy handcuff. Ever since I saw that, the bondage puns would not stop. XD; *dives into Terra Deep*

lol I remember wii balls *used to get game informer* I googled the website and a bunch of stuff came up about how it was a spoof. Apparently people were going into stores asking for them...
@celtic- was that the series of commercials involving the squirrels?
I remember when the Wii first came out and the remotes didn't have straps and people were accidentally throwing them into there TV's. xD Handcuffs >.> that a little shifty...
don't think I've heard of that Pulse... we should start compiling a list!

Gotta say, I side with Shadow Blade on this one! I want a PSP because of THIS *Drools*I heard about the DSi too, infact I was warned away from it... I forget what it was, but I know there was something my cousin said about it that I did not like. Game Informer made fun of that awhile back with the Wii Balls XD ROFLMFAO! I remember when me and Mum were waiting line to buy a game for Electricfox. Someone had left a Wii on the floor behind the counter and some guy (I presume was the manager) came in and said "Who left this Wii here?" Of course, Mum proceeded to say, "Careful you don't slip in it!" Well, the guy gave her such daggers ^^;
