Just thought I'd share this with people, since I know most if not all of us are anime fans...
Somehow this slipped under the radar, but a new anime series of Fullmetal Alchemist is supposed to premier in Japan April 5th. From what I can gather, the sources are a little vague and I can't read japanese, this new series will follow the manga's plot line instead of deviating like the original did. BTW Studio Bones is producing it. (They did Wolf's Rain, RahXephon, the original FMA, etc.)
I'll put a new photo up later but my computer is having some internet issues. ^^;
Thoughts on this anyone?
Personally I'll be glad to see it, but to me it seems a little bit like a money grab, milking the series for all it's worth... I mean most anime gets one series and if lucky some sequels, not a completely new series.
It will be interesting to see also how they work this since the anime deviated from the manga series around volume 7. So will we get tons of recap or will they some how intertwine the two...

Ghostie told me about this some times ago. Hope this one won't be some cheap crap as an excuse to grab money, lol

Well it's Studio Bones and they usually produce quality anime, so I expect it to be good.
It's going to be interesting since the only VA's that came back are the ones for Ed and Al.
I'm already convinced it's a money grab since in order to go a pre release showing of the first episode you had to buy a $700+ USD FMA Box set and then you were entered into a raffle for a chance to go... money grab...

Electric told me about it initially. He passed this link onto meIt doesn't say anything other than what you already posted Kit, but it's got an awesome pic! Whilst it does sound like a money grabbing idea, it is a very effective one! I'm already chomping at the bit to see how they play it... Though personally I may force myself to wait until when we know for certain if it'll be dubbed or not... I didn't know about the VA thing though. I wonder what'll happen if it gets dubbed... I hope Vic'll be back at the very least!

I guess it depends on what the english VA cast is doing when they are approach. If they're busy we'll probably get new ones. yuck, hate when they do that. *remembers the YYH movie and shudders* though that was because a different company licensed it.
I might get to meet Vic this May. :B He's going to be at a convention I want to attend. My friend already met him and he's supposed to be a real nice guy.
Back to FMA, I'm probably going to watch the subs because I'll get impatient waiting for it to get dubbed.

I think FMA, GITS 2nd GIG, and Scryed are the last animes I've seen the whole way through on tv. Totally just lost interest in anime. The hypeness and the "everyone watches it now" annoys me. I'll stick to my old school animes like Gundam Wing. This new FMA sounds interesting though.

Yea I can't remember the last time I watched televised anime. Maybe it's my changing tastes, I doubt it, but new animes just aren't as good as the old classics (probably because they all steal off the old classics). I need to start watching Gundam 00 which is on the SciFi channel, supposed to be a pretty good rip of Gundam Wing.

Whether I watch the subs or dubs I guess depends on the dub VA for Ed... if it's not Vic, then subs it is!

Indeed, I hope they get the original cast back, it wouldn't be the same.
If I do manage to go I'll tell him GhostLiger says hi, he may be confused but mission accomplished. xP

Yeah, I really don't like any of the newer ones. Bleach is one of the biggest rip offs I've seen though. They stole stuff from everything, esp InuYasha.

I do like the older animes, but I'm also a fan of the newer stuff as well like One Piece and Eureka Seven. Oh, and Gurren Lagann, that show looks so awesome.
I usually try and keep an open mind when it comes to new anime.

Yeah, I really don't like any of the newer ones. Bleach is one of the biggest rip offs I've seen though. They stole stuff from everything, esp InuYasha. I've been watching bleach lately (or rather, I've read all the manga and watched a lot of the anime but got distracted Nero fangirling after seeing old Bounto dude and Nova), and what irks me the most is that Ichigo is so powerful so easily. The other characters had to work so freaking hard for bankai and stuff and he just ... blargh. Not to mention that he's usually the only one getting stronger. I mean, granted, he's the main character, sure, he should get stronger, but why can't everyone else get stronger too? Watching a character grow and develop is nice, but not when they're so powerful that they pwn so easily... (Hence why I'm not a Bit-girl.) Not to mention I stare at Ulquiorrah and see my character Zigor. I jokingly say that Ulquiorrah is a Zigor Ripoff. XD I'd start listing the similarities, but I keep Zigor under wraps, so don't want to go there. /rantrant (So Bleach rips off more than just anime, they rip off OCs, too! XDD)

I used to watch Bleach when Anime Central showed it, but then they moved it to make room for some new animes, but they'd moved it too late for me to watch so I lost interest. A friend of mine got me the full first season, but I haven't watched the DVDs yet.
Last I heard Anime Central had imploded ^^;

UPDATE!!
Apparently the whole voice cast came back for the remake:
"A new FMA TV series has just premiered in Japan, and promises to adhere strictly to the original manga's storyline. While the original voice cast have reunited for this production, the creative team are all new." - Quoted from Neo Magazine

That's great to hear! I actually liked the English voice actors for FMA so it's good to hear they'll be coming back! :3 I honestly haven't watched the subs they've put up yet so I can't say what the new series is like. After exams!
