Battery mice are heavy. And indeed, recharging batteries in the middle of what you're doing sucks.
As for risk of getting RSI: I had trouble with that as well. I tried switching the mouse to my other hand, but that's only a temp. solution. So I've bought a Wacom tablet which is an immense improvement. I don't even have a mouse plugged in anymore.

Yeah, I love wacoms. But... I couldn't use it all the time since my powerboard's small so it's rarely plugged in since my cordless's plug's always in and so on. (I'm trying to get an individual switch powerboard with surgeguard)

lol I have a little Logitech cordless mouse. It uses... *opens up battery compartment and accidentally opened MS Word in the process wtf* AA batteries. My mouse usually lasts for almost a year without having to change batteries, and like Itty said, mine also gives a 3 day warning. I just charge extra batteries prior to the ones I'm using dies :3

yup, and my keyboard's LCD has a large gauge, and even tells me eta of battery dieing-ness XD And its not really in the middle of what you are doing, unless you are doing something for 3 days strait
also, I prefer a heavy mouse, gives me 'substance' to hold onto, and it lets me know something is there, and I can move it more precisely in my opinion *huggles mousey*
