Papercuts hurt more 'cause they tear. I've cut myself on a dull pocketknife, it hurt and took days to heal D:. The best example of dull = worse that I can think of, though, involved a school linoleum block carving tool + having to press hard from dull edge + edge ending up stab-tearing a cut in my palm. Owowow.
By contrast, xactos I hardly have to press at all, so when I get my fingers, it's a clean cut and pretty shallow. I sometimes don't notice until I see the blood...

That makes me think of the time I cut my thumb. Long story short, it was a surprise I managed to not need stitches, though still clutched a papertowel around it for almost an hour, and it took me weeks to grow my thumbnail out long enough to cut off the broken part. (A cut straight through the fingernail and into the flesh beneath is not fun. If the broken nail pinching the quick isn't bad enough, having that annoying pocket of air that comes from the quick drawing away from the broken nail is really annoying. I WISH my thumbnail fell off. But it didn't.)
No one else will notice it, but the white part on the bottom of my thumbnail has a small slash of hardly noticable pink from the scarring. XD (I only notice it because it's my thumbnail.)
I had pictures... but I never uploaded them...
that was pointless. Sorry. </ramble>

Ouch.
My right index finger's only just finished healing from a cut I received while cleaning a mirror.
The mirror wasn't broken and I never did find the sharp edge I cut it on, but I'm never taking that mirror out the frame again!

Believe it or not but it didn't hurt and it hardly bled because it was only that first layer of skin. I did have my hand completely wrapped for weeks though. |
