Nintendo DS gets love (IMG Heavy)

I don't know if this goes under General or Fun and Games... Feel free to move, if not in right place, Ghostie. XD

So Amber (awesome friend) gave me a DS that she had replaced when she got her DSi... Only problem is, the hinge had been broken. Nothing major, mostly just cosmetic and a minor inconvenience that was fixed with ducttape. I knew just how to fix it thanks to zoids kitbashing, though XD

Enter Nick. (yes, I named my DS after Phoenix Wright's nickname, since it's the game I am currently playing and I've had too much fun with.)

This is how he looked after removing the duct tape:




So I took some WD-40 and a few run overs cleaned it right up. Then I clipped off the broken plastic to make a relatively clean empty space:



And attached a blox joint:



And trimmed a cap down on one side, adding paperclips to a gap to secure it...



Next step: Putting ribbon over it for two reasons... #1. Cosmetics. #2, perhaps a ribbon will make the joint a bit stiffer so I can prop the screen up. Still a bit on the floppy side...

I'm considering switching to DSLite (not DSi, it's got no GBA ports). Ghostie might get my old one (it's in good condition, rarely dropped it, gets plenty of love in a plushie horse case XD).

Nice job! Your DS is same color as mine. To give your DS a longer life, might want to consider getting screen protectors to keep scratches to minimum.

Well, there will be new DS for 2011, called 3DS. The 3DS will have a 3-D technology as well new controls. I am considering getting it.

Ah yeah, I've heard about the 3DS, seems like a good idea, but apparently the 3D effect only work if you look at it from a specific angle.

XD *drags SBlade back in* That doesn't warrent kicking out. I got a DS because my friend gave it to me. If someone gave me a PSP I'd be happy with that too!

Yeah I was borrowing my friend's DSi for a look, I agree the camera is just silly (tho it's got a cool little case with a game storage and stylus protector (so it doesn't fall out by accident). It's just basically a reproduced Lite with an added camera...

Oh yeah, I've seen those o.o My only gripe was they reproduced Star Fox 64 into 3D for the 3ds instead of an entirely new game (which hasn't happened for the wii yet, they'd usually release a new one when new consoles came out). I think I'd rather stick to the two ports DS'ses unless the 3DS got something that will make me more interested.

Not true, Okami Wii. _{Which is really rubbish by the way, if you want to enjoy Okami get the PS2 version!}

I heard the 3DS can ruin the eyes of children under 6. They've even had to put a parental lock on it to stop kids using the 3D function until they're the right age XD

Lol seriously? Don't think I'll get a 3DS anyway, it's kind of cool but not a great deal of appeal to me. It seems a few entertainment media are becoming 3D-ed, TV's already being one. Normal tv anyday kthnx XD
