I warn one more time, LOTS OF PICS. This will kill you on a slow connection. XD;
Still under major construction. This is my most intricate custom so far, and the recolour isn't the only part. Still trying to figure how to get the rest worked. XD;
FIRST!!
Some Process pictures. All of the tail.
I use sharpies, mainly because they dry quick, colour evenly, and have a unique ability to simply tint if you want them to. However, if you want to change colours to lighter, there's an issue. You need a silver sharpie for this. X3
My first zoid evar, Knight Lupus the command wolf, uncustomed for sentiment's sake, shows his tail to show the original colour. I wanted to make the grooves light blue, but they're cobalt, not to mention I wanted them to have a shine that only silver sharpie prime can give. So I highlighted all the grooves, as can be seen.
Closer shot of the primed grooves.
The grooves painted the light blue (which may not seem that different than the cobalt, but I tested on the other side, just cobalt doesn't have the same effect). The vents were painted purple.
This shows the layers best. I primed it silver, then coloured so the grooves would be blue.
However, this part was going to be topped in purple. I like it, shu'up. XD;
And then I (VERY VERY STINKING) carefully colour the black over. Black always takes two coats. If you don't give it two coats, it doesn't have that sexy shiney black look. It looks more like dull grey halfheartedly coloured on. In other words, CRUD.
And Sable Wolf with his inspiration on my computer's desktop. X3 Yes, his face is left silver on purpose. It's to represent Nero's mask. You can see what I was talking about with the cobalt versus light blue, especially if you compair it with Nero's tron-like uniform.
Done so far:
Head and Neck
(All) Legs
Main Body
Tail
Back
Pipes
To be done:
Wings
Some More Armour
