Music... yeah, I can't live without it (and can't pay attention to stuff without it XD). Though I think it's kinda the norm anymore that everyone loves some type of music. I'm always curious to know what others listen to so I can expand my own collection (which is over 30 some gigabytes now). So was wondering what's your fav music to listen to? ;3 Mine has to be video game music. Mostly cuz it's usually all instrumental and can have such a huge variety in different sounds. My fav game music would either be Ys The Oath in Felghana OST (Strongest Foe = pure rock awesomeness in a cup www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTkBeZBsoDg ) or Halo OSTs. Sadly Galbadia Hotel went down and it's harder to find somewhere to get game music. Can't just go to fye in the mall and get the OST to Ikaruga =/ Also love techno or rock too. I think the only *main stream* band I listen to a lot is Linkin Park in the rock department, but I've kinda veered away from them after their Minutes to Midnight cd came out -_-b As far as techno goes, I think my fav group is Juno Reactor, followed up with Infected Mushroom. Even though those are my favs, I'll listen to pretty much anything as long as it isn't Country music * shudders* |

Totally agree, can't live without music or pay attention without it! I try doing homework without music and I can maybe sit for an hour, but with music, I could sit for hours! I love video game music/ any instrumental I can get my hands on. Right now I have the 3 zoids OST's from CC/GF and one of the Halo 2 soundtracks. Love listening to them ^^. Also tons of anime music, if anyone ever wants some thing from a specific anime I may have something. Lots of FMA, YYH, Inu Yasha, and Kenshin stuff. Don' t really listen to the OP/CL songs anymore but have tons of character themes without words which are awesome. Other than that I listen to rock, alternative, and metal. Mostly symphonic metal (Nightwish, Apocalyptica), and then your 'mainstream' rock, Shinedown, Foo Fighters, Korn, etc, etc. Oh also some classical and jazz stuff. Being a clarinetist I love Clarinet Candy or any Leroy Anderson stuff. And some celtic stuff, ie Lord of the Dance. I pretty much listen to anything that catches my ear as pleasing, being a musician I listen to music more for its substance, beauty, and imagery not because of which genre its in. No Britney Spears for me!  I have friends who think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. -_- I wonder sometimes... Ooooo I love Nightwish and Apocalyptica!!! I heard Nightwish's I Wish I Had An Angel a good while back and loved it. Also have a lot of Zoids OSTS. Have all from CC/GF and NC. Then I have some songs from Genesis and Fuzors. I think my fav song from an anime is What's Up People from Death Note :3

Definitely need to get more Blue Oeyster Cult, Dream Theater, and Iron Maiden. Wouldn't mind more Black Sabbath and Nightwish, either. kitsunefyn: Got any Terry Kath-era Chicago? If not, you may well like it (and I can help ;p).

Mostly though I'm into anime music, and anything I hear on the radio that I like the sound of. It's really just a mixed batch with me.
I kinda feel naked if I go to work and forget my MP3 player...

Actually zoids introduced me to Nightwish! I was watching AMV's on youtube and someone did one to Dark Chest of Wonder, converted me on the spot went out and bought Once the next day. Comrade Tilly, I'll have to go check them out. If you have AIM, I like the AOL radio, only problem with them is they play some songs/ bands to often. Way to much Five Finger Death Punch. @_@ The local radio stations around here have been consolidating so suddenly I'm hearing classic rock on the alternative station. Love classic rock but when I want modern rock it stinks to turn to the channel and hear Rush or Boston. Luckily I can pick up the Toronto stations from where I live, they have two Alternative stations ^^. |

My mp3 player has FM radio, and one of the Wisconsin stations I pick up is an independent non-Clear Channel one and actually plays different music. Still a tragic lack of Dream Theater!
...and mmm, Rush. Need more Rush.
For Chicago I'd try their second or third album first, and listen to it as one blob. They don't work as well as individual songs.

I too love video game music. It makes 99% of the music on my MP3 player.
My absolute favorite soundtrack has to be Street Fighter II.
Ken's theme is made of 110% win and the rest of the songs are firmly wedged in my brain, but in a good way.

Now I wonder what percent of my music is what. I'm not sure how to calculate that, though, and I've finally hit the point where I'm out of mp3 player room D:.
I'd bet on at least a quarter being some breed of metal. Similar for any sort of blues or jazz influence...
