Thanks Shadow. Actually I thought the same thing: The colour of the mk. VII would look great on some Zoids! Molga or perhaps that Dark Horn I'm preparing for painting? ;D It's "French Mirage Blue" from Vallejo's Model Color line. I did do a lot of weathering with light metallics over it, which did lighten up the colours a bit. I think it's also a great representation of the color the fighters have in the TV-series.

Itty: And it should! ;D The original Battlestar Galactica had spacecraft designed by some of the same people who worked on Star Wars. The Vipers you see in my left hands (yeah, I'm a lefty so two left hands is good!) are from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, they're basically later models of the Vipers seen in the original series. By the way, the re-imagined BSG is the best sc-ifi/drama series to have graced the TV-screen in a long time! Great story, characters, spaceships, action, drama... If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! www.imdb.com/title/tt0407362/

Indeed, original Galactica for the win! But only as long as you haven't seen the new series... which is a gazillion times better and less campy. ;D But original Galactica indeed had it's moments... And some classic sci-fi designs (Viper mk. I, Cylon Raider, Galactica, Cylon Basestar and some of the fleet). In fact, I might need to re-watch my original Galactica set sometime just for the sake of old times!

I really need to see both, don't I? I dig cheesy just fine!
I love the weathering, it's nice and subtle but works well. Now cram a Zoids pilotman in there ;p.

Can't - canopy's glued shut. ;D
As for the series:
Original Battlestar Galactica - Very campy sci-fi show, but with likable characters. It's more something that you should watch just because it's "classic", not because it's such good television.
Reimagined Galactica - Very dark and dramatic. Here the sci-fi setting is just used as a background to tell the story. It's mostly about people struggling to survive, not only agains the Cylons but also (often even more so) against themselves.
New Galactica will take some (or a lot!) getting used to. When I saw the miniseries (first 2 episodes) I thought "what have they done to this show!" and "Frak, Starbuck and Boomer have turned into girls!". But I continued watching because it was sci-fi (which is pretty rare on dutch TV), and halfway the first season I really started to like it. After that it just got better. In my opinion it's the best sci-fi show ever. The whole thing just feels "real", and you really care for some and loath other characters. And ones liked or loathed can even change during the run of the show! There are no heroics (of heroes for that matter) - to the contrary, a lot of the characters carry burdens from their past as well as burdens they pick up during the story. They just try to make the best of what they have...
I think the closest thing to it that has been shown so far would be the series Space: Above and Beyond. Though that one was too short-lived to really compare. And it was also less dramatic.
Oh yeah, and I like Firefly too (second-best sci-fi show after BSG, hehe). So don't think I only like dark sci-fi. ;D
