I like the idea of everyone drawing, but the randomizing thing sounds like an impossibly difficult idea. But then again, I think of how hard it is when there's so much coding, and what a pain in the ass it must be to find the script for it. >_> But I guess I'm the only one who read Ghostie's rant against the skin modify page and scripting.

but but breaking things is fun, it's how you learn ;_;. </corrupted by a bit over a year of Linux use>
...Proboards' admin tools are um. Special. These seem to be the relevant bits of code on Pheno's board, or at least they looked it when I prodded the global headers.
<script> <!-- var url="http://phen0type.proboards47.com" var logo=document.images[0] var logotd=logo.parentNode var makelink=document.createElement("a") makelink.href=url logo.border="0" makelink.appendChild(logo) logotd.appendChild(makelink) //--> </script> <style> BODY { background-attachment: fixed; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; } </style> <script><!-- document.getElementsByTagName('font')[1].innerHTML=''none'; //--></script> <script> document.getElementsByTagName('td')[2].style.display='none'; </script>
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- /* random banner - open source */ var images = []; var n = 0;
images[n++] = 'images go here, repeat this line as needed'; var r = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length); document.getElementsByTagName('img').item(0).src = images[r]; //--> </script>

Yeah, I was thinking about Pheno too. But in that piece of code it nowhere seems to point to the location of the actual imagefiles? <-- this smiley isn't working on a black background)

In my irl personal experience, I break things, people yell at me ^^;
Hmm... Yeah, I have to agree with Vargen there... I can see what one the Randomiser code is, but I can't be certain exactly where it begins, and what I'm supposed to do with the URLs...
Buuuut... in a strangely sensible turn of events, Ghostie appears to have bookmarked the Proboards code index, and has managed to locate the random banner script, so looks like the random banner thing is on after all ^^

For those that are interested, our current banner is 648px × 209px

Cool for finding out how the code works!
As for size: What's the width of the forum's table itself? 800px or so? I suggest just using that width for the banners as well. And maybe make it about the same hight as the one we have now.

I remember because I stuck a code in to shrink it to that size.

We allowed to use any font we want? Cuz I'm already cooking up ideas XD I think it'd be more interesting if everyone used whatever font they wanted since everyone's designs are going to be different.

Hmm... it would give it more variety... We could give it a try and see how it goes. Oh, I would ask that people put their forum names on it somewhere. You don't have to, but it'll be nice I think, just so long as it's not uber large writing... just small but readable in the corner.

Indeed, as long as people keep in mind that these are meant as a forum header, *not* as personal banners. As for people doing fonts and all: I suggest everyone also keeps a version of their work with just the imagery. That way, if stuff gets too chaotic (diverse, your choice ;D ) someone can always unify them later on by just using all the imagery with a fixed template concerning fonts/wording and such. Disclaimer: I've been sick all week (still am kinda). Hope the above makes sense and wwrting is like I think I typed them. ;D

Although, I could have a special sticky dedicated to who done what banner instead. Good idea. Ouch, hope you feel better soon. You did well until "wwrting" XD
