I just had an explosion of ideas lately XD Anyway, so I was thinking a lot about the animes after reading the plot hole topic and trying to understand why I like some more than the others even though they all are enjoyable. So here will be more of a general analyzation of why we like certain series more than others rather than picking certain events. CC/GF: Love: Honestly I think it was the most thought out and creative out of all of them. They had a solid plot with good characters and I like how it's one of the few animes where you get to see time pass and have a whole story with them grown up. Hech the only other anime that I can think of that did this on the top of my head was Nanoha XD Hate: The whole "war" on the other hand didn't seem realistic at all and I didn't like the whole ending to GF. The whole unstoppable Deathstinger was really boring to me. NC:Love: I always felt like they did a good job with balancing the seriousness with the comedy (and it wasn't overly corny comedy). I also liked how even though the plot was simple, they still managed to tie in various elements from past episodes. Hate: I honestly hated how Zero could change armors in the middle of the battle. Everyone else has to learn to win a challenge using their skill and what skills their zoids had, but Bit could just change to whatever armor would give him the best advantage. This is especially annoying in that last fight he has with Stoller. "Oh this armor didn't work, let's go try another!" I would have absolutely loved to see Stoller win that battle. FuzorsLove: Lord Gale is a gargoyle type zoid. That is AWESOME. I also really like the art style of the characters and the cockpit designs. Hate: Ok, now I hate Fuzors probably for a different reason than most. It's not the lack of plot, the cheesy-ness, or bad zoid animation (my best friend's an animation major soooo, yeah. I notice this stuff now. Kinda sucks). I hate Fuzors because I know Hasbro. They see a money making toy opportunity and they take it. Lets have toys combine into bigger cooler toys! That way kids will want to buy all the toys, including the lame ones! I've watched way too many Transformers series to know. Actually, I don't even have to explain it. GenesisLove: At least the whole war concept was played out better in this than CC and I love how all the main zoids are melee based. Hate: The whole sky people thing just really ruined the plot for me. It rose too many wtfs.

The funny thing is, as a Death Zoid, I fear Stinger more than Saurer. (Could be slight arachnophobia, but...)
I think it's more because of how I've tried battling it on ZBL. Deathsaurer was slow, so you had time to go "OHSHI-" and get behind it before it CPC'd you... Just so long as you keep running. Away. So to get out of missile range.
But the Stinger would be like *skitterskitterskitterPOUNCE* HI. And I'd be like .... DED.
What bugs the crap out of me is... Stinger was so powerful or whatever and could only be defeated by gravity cannon... So why the f**k did Hiltz nix the Stinger to go for the Deathsaurer when all Van has to do is go sparkleybladey and slice it? He did it once...
I also wonder what happened to the rest of the arcabaleno gang. I mean... we all know what happened to Rosso and Viola... But Welda, Nero and Bull never even returned to bust Rosso out of jail, it was just Bianco and Jarro, and then what happened to Bianco and Jarro after Rosso disbanded them?
Fuzors? Oh gates... I only saw like... I think 3 episodes. I got bugged by how Phoenix's "feathers" fluttered in the wind, that couldn't be aerodynamic; the lack of blend between CGI and traditional; and f**k**g HARRY CHAMP. I mean, nothing against Harry... but EVERYTHING against his VA. It's worse than Bit Cloud's VA (and me waiting for Liger Zero to appear in InuYasha) because at least those are two different animes, but to be in two series of one anime and not even make a half assed attempt to change your voice? I'm not kidding, I would scream "DESTINED TO BE KING" every time that blue haired kid spoke.
I DID like that the zoids had a bit of wild back in them for Fuzors though. If I could only stand the horrible animation and Harry-so-fucking-not-Champ. >_<
Genesis? ... I think I was so relieved it wasn't another visual barf like Fuzors that I loved it. I can't think of any complaints off the top of my--Oh wait, the ending. Way too fast. EPIC BATTLE-and win and look the generator's fixed. How did they managed to figure out how Murasame Liger (why am I wanting to call it Masamune liger?) could fix it? Just because it resurrected? And what about the other zoids, how did they resurrect after Masamune? well... Garaga's zoid did, I was wondering if that's part of the 'backpack' because the 'eye' changes colour. But what about Seijuurou's zoid? You don't see it again.
Speaking of Seijuurou, they really could've clarified his sickness. 'Cough cough hack wheeze yay skypeople fix' just doesn't cut it for me. What did he have? How critical was it? How did the sky people fix it?
... I'm rambling now and am doing so in one of those half-asleep dazes, I should shut up.
ETA: JORG THE FUCKER THAT WONT DIE. "Hi, I'm fugly man" "Hi, I'm fugly man you killed once before." "Hi, I was a fugly man and now I'm just a fugly robot" GODS, JUST DIE.

CC/GFLove: The characters are fun excecutions of archetypes (with a few exceptions) and fun to play with in fanfiction. Stuff like the white Gordos and the more adventure/ACTION!!hero episodes of GF = awesome fun. Who will save us? VAN AND HIS FLYING LIGER WILL SAVE US. I would totally watch a whole series of that, assuming it was self-aware about being ridiculous. Hate: Yeah, already said my piece re: its failure at serious AND adventure straight up because it couldn't decide which it wanted to be. The setting does nothing for me, too, the comic did it better. /ZeroLove: Not taking itself seriously. At all. Just, so much. This sounds short, but oh man is it refreshing sometimes. Hate: Waaay too much stock footage lovin'. It had some of the best animation in Zoids, but oh man. Stock footage. Plot-wise, I got annoyed that a lot of the more interesting rematches and battles got cut off by the Backdraft or act of Plot: Bit versus Leon, Bit versus Stoller again, Bit versus Ballad/the Fox, etc. FuzorsIt's the closest to my favorite continuity, imo, or at least its future ;p. Fuzors is a hiccup and a smaller Seismo away from Three Tigers era. That and I really like the setting as a whole—I get so very tired of Mecha Are Only For War, and can totally see a sports battle future with more modern tech but not such...insanity as orbital drop satellite stuff (I know, rule of cool!) The teen characters also act, um, like teenagers. Even if that means they're a bit annoying sometimes, it was a nice change from super-prodigies in...just about everything else (even the modelverse, to some extent). Also, I like Brad Swaile. I cackle evey time he's cast for something serious (usually Gundam or the like), because I'm evil. Hate: How every single time it's brought up anywhere there will be at least one RUINED ZOIDS 4EVA. That and the Zoid animation is craptastic, but so's early CC. If it had had more time, maybe it'd have approached "not half bad". GenesisLove: My apathy, it is showing. But I did like the Murasame's animation model quite a lot when they weren't tripping over its run cycle, it's all sleek and flexy. Ruuji was also nice. I liked them ATTEMPTING larger-scale battles and strategy more, because if you're gonna do a Srs War series, that's something you should try for. Hate: Already mentioned ending, blah blah. For more overall, I just...don't like its flavor of post-apocalyptic to start—for example, I made it about halfway through Turn A Gundam before I wandered off to watch G again. And it was well-written D:. Also, the Zoid animation stagnated, which bugs me. Compare the first and last few episodes of any other Zoids series, and regardless of how badly the animation began, there are visible improvements in the models, grasp on weight, etc. Genesis I think looked better early on in some respects. It was likely budget fail, mind D:.

Because I think there is a clear and distinct line between CC and GF, I love and hate different things about both.
CC:
Love: The story line. For the most part, CC moved a good pace and had great filler. Plus alot of the plotlines connected. First you have Van getting chased by the Alcabaleno (spelling?) and he finds Zeke, and then finds Fiona. The gang wants Zeke and throughout the rest the gang plays an intergral part in the war as well. Raven starts out as wanting to defeat Van, as well as the rest of the Zoids, and he submits to Prozen (sort of) and Prozen wants Rudolph dead, whom Van saves. And it's all really connected. Plus I love the humor. Van's immaturity I think carries the season through, since we see so much change in him.
Hates: The animation, I generally thought that a lot of times in the show that character animation was brought down and it looked really flat.
GF:
Love: The overall character development. It's both good and bad. Van's development into a mature skilled pilot makes the show more mature than CC, however, a lot of humor was lost in the process. And I agree with Dr. D on the fact that at some point Van lost sight of why he loved piloting Zoids and focused way too much on beating "the bad guys". Raven developed the most in this season I believe. We find out why he hates Zoids (or at least half why, cause he just does) and his internal conflict is brought out so much more in GF than CC. He gets a heart (finally!). Fiona finally figures out why she's supposed to find the Zoid Eve (I think for most of us, it is pretty clear that she was destined to destroy Zoid Eve, by her name and the nature of the other ancient zoidians).
Hates: I feel like GF moved way too fast and I think that's why we all hate the Death Stinger resurrecting every time it's hit. After the Death Stinger, the show progressed at a much faster pace than it's previous season did. In CC, after Van got the Blade Liger, he knows he has to beat Raven, but he doesn't go chasing after him constantly for the next six episodes. I also feel the same way about the plot of the last four episodes. It moved way too fast and the whole Fiona disappearing act just...(I laughed, I was like WTF?).
Zoids Shinseiki/0
Loves: The close range combat. I mean the fight between Leon and Bit the first time was a badass scene and I'd watch it over and over before watching some long-range firing combat. The cg was ten times better than CC/GF. I also love the connections that they made between landmarks in CC/GF. Example: Mt. Iselina is still known for it's foggy conditions that lead people to seeing things in the mountain.
Hates: An almost plotless plotline. I really don't like shows with little to know plot and I find I watch animes that have a great story. .hack//Sign, Haibane Renmei for example. They have a great storyline and an ending to look forward too, while NCO left you praying that the end would hopefully be good, since we never knew really when it would be coming (if you didn't know the length of the series prior to watching it from episode 1, who knew what episode the Royal Cup would come in).
Zoids Fuzors:
Loves: Absolutely nothing.
Hates: The animation makes me wanna cry. The story seemed stupid. I only watched to where Toonami ended it.
Zoids Genesis:
Loves: The story thus far. It falls into a serious catergory, which I love anyways. And it doesn't seem to move too fast thus far. Though, from previous posts, I've noticed you all dislike the fast paced ending. Is it gonna be GF speed all over again.
Dislikes: hmmm...The Zoids actually. Don't get me wrong, but I think the BioZoids/Metal Zi Zoids exceeds the whole, heros and superior villians must be well, superior. You see it in every season with the Ligers. The Blade Liger pushed it in CC/GF as kinda being an unstoppable Zoid, but hey everyone eventually upped to a better Zoid too. And Bit started out with Liger Zero and even though the original armor was definitely the most superior, he had to draw out the strength of it. Fuzors for Liger Zero, nuff said. And with the Murasame Liger, even though I know Ruuji has to draw out it's power (even though I haven't gotten there yet). Total fragment. All the other characters started out with great Zoids, because they all had Metal Zi weapons. And for the BioZoids, they just are great. Raven had to start small with his Zaber Fang. I feel like the older Zoids got pushed aside because now they have BioZoids and Metal Zi Zoids and all the little don't matter anymore. And yes, that bothers the hell out of me the most.

imo, most of Fuzors' plot comes in the half they didn't show here, and a few of the filler-seeming episodes end up having a lot of meaning later. But it's not like I watched all of CC or Genesis (though I did watch the endings/episodes people called plot-critical), so I can't talk :p.

Oh man Tilly, you're right! I forgot about stock abuse and the good battles being crapped. (Yes, I meant crapped, by some device or another.) I can't tell if Fuzors ruined zoids "4EVA", I just know I couldn't stand undisguised voice acting and horrible CGI combination. why would they stop showing it right before the plot develops? Toonami's retarded. @micgray - It was actually the plotless plotline of NCZ that got me hooked. XD At that time, I wasn't one who would make effort to keep up with a series, and thus hated series where, if you missed an episode, you were totally lost. The more I watched it, the more I liked the zoids and stuff, so it got me in the habit of watching every time it came on, so that way, when I started watching Classic (And I so agree, CC and GF are clearly separate, but I got yelled at one time for saying that, so ... yea, whatever. >:/ *scowl directed at those who INSIST THAT CLASSIC IS A SINGLE SERIES AND IN NO WAY HAS SEPERATION, huff*), I was able to appreciate plotlines a lot more. XD

Oh yeah lots of stock footage in ZNC. We really didn't need to watch Zero change into 1 of the 3 plot devices every time. I'm actually with Celtic too with the no story being what attracted me to it. It's a nice change of pace and was something to watch just for fun. I still watch/listen to it while working on stuff since I can still enjoy it while not paying close attention to what's going on.
OH AND CELTIC!!! the whole Brad Swaile thing... It's REALLY creepy in Transformers Energon because he plays the VA for this kid, then the father is played by Ron Halder (Dr. Toros) so you're just like "WTF this is not right" when you're listening to it XD
I'm with Tilly on the sport battle aspect with Fuzors. Loved that about it and I wished they focused on it more. I loved it when RD made the remark on Rastani about he'd win too if he had a big fancy sponsor.

XD I agree. I watch NC0 first and thus getting into CC/GF, I was able to appreciate it more. And a long time ago, when I was like in 4th grade I would have said that I like NC0 better than CC/GF because I think it was funnier in it's plotlessness, but once I discovered CC/GF ( which took me a few years before I had seen all the episodes in a row cause of random time changes) I began to enjoy anime with plot more. To tell you the truth, I really hated CC/GF for a long time because 1) I didn't realize that it took place before NC0 (and was slightly disappointed Liger Zero wasn't there) and 2) the Blade Liger was blue and piloted by a stupid kid (at the time Leon was my favorite character and I loved the Red Blade Liger). But as I got more into Zoids as a whole, I was able to appreciate the two as seperate seasons.

The official sites for Zoids have always called CC and GF one series, with GF as the second season, so that's why I stick 'em together.
Yeah, there's tone differences and character differences, but Gurren Lagann did the timeskip thing that way and people don't insist it's two separate shows...

I always usually refer to them as one, but I preferred the second season over the first for the most part and that's the only reason I seperated them. Different plotlines, different quality and I generally only cared for GF, CC's plotline flowed better though.

OMG! I was watching .hack//ROOTS, cause I hadn't watched the last 5 episodes, Brad Swaile plays Seisaku and I laughed my head off thinking of Harry and then I found out Richard Cox plays Ita (whose female) and I didn't recognize his voice at all.

BIT'S A GIRL?! (Actually... I have a RP partner who calls herself (yes her) Bit... And I was zoidfreaking out on her... She's never heard of zoids... And you know what's hilarious? A female extra she used at the beginning of one RP was named LEENA. I had to bite my tongue really hard not to roflmao and zoidfreak on her again. XD)
