Just got back from a trip to Niagara Falls with some friends. We decided to take a little weekend vacation up there and is only a 4 and half to 5 drive for us. It was a nice drive since half of it is along side Lake Erie.
We stayed on the American side of the falls since we didn't have passports *shakes fists at terrorists* but next time we're gonna get them since all the food places were on the Canadian side. The American side is more natural and feels more like a park/wildlife reserve whereas the Canadian side is a lot more commercialized and feels like any other big city.
Shot of the American Falls with the Canadian Horseshoe Falls in the background. Took this from the observation tower deck.
Night pics of the falls from the same place. Was really cool cuz the lights would change colors. The purple and blue colors didn't turn up on the camera, which is a shame cuz I though they were the prettiest.
Shot from the observation part of the Horseshoe Falls looking towards the American Falls and observation tower.
Taken from the same point, only of the Horseshoe Falls.
One of the attractions there is called Maid of the Mist that is a fleet of 4 ships (2 on each side) that toured around the falls. The American side had the smaller, older vessels whereas the Canadians had the new large ones. The dock in this pic is of the Canadian port with one of the American vessels going past. They give you free ponchos for the trip cuz you will get completely soaked. The poor Asian woman standing next to me on the boat was trying her hardest not to get wet. Luckily being short actually came in handy for once since the poncho completely engulfed me and I was able to stand on it to keep my shoes from getting soaked.
Pic of the American dock from the observation tower. Rode an elevator down that led to the dock and some more observation points.
Shot of the American Falls from the boat. All the people in the yellow ponchos in the pic are on another attraction called The Cave of the Wind where you got to right next to the falls and got to explore behind the falls. Didn't get to go do that trip since my one friend pulled a muscle in his leg and couldn't really walk without pain.
And finally a shot of the Horseshoe Falls from the boat. You can see how close we got to the falls and we actually got in closer than this. But at that point it was like a heavy rain coming down on you. It was a humid day so it actually felt really good X3
