I figured I'd give this a shot. XD Well, a while ago, I drew something for someone on dA. I haven't actually finished it, but I've done enough to show my colouring technique. We'll start with the lineart. Like I said before, my style tends to be sloppy enough that colouring under the lines won't make it look much better. Not to mention I tend to have grainier paper somehow so I can't get a solid white. I don't have a step-by-step for every bit, but this shows some of it: I'll set the layer to 100% to figure out what colour I want (like on the hair and belly) then go 20% or less to see where my lines are. That's also the start of my hair process. I use a large brush to colour the inside, then go to stringy, make the density low, and do the edge of the hair. From there, I use the same brush and darker colour for shadows, then go to a brighter colour for the highlights. (See Here for a full set of processes.) This shows where I used darker colours (on the teeth and fingernails) then used blur to "shade" XD; The horns were shaded, then used a brush with darken to make the ridges. The tongue was fun, too. XD It's basically a red section, a blue section, and a teeny bit of purple blurred together. What it looks like right now. The thumbnail that's showing hasn't been completely blended so you can see how I shape the to-be-shaded area.
