This bothers me a bit, so I'm gonna ask y'all this question...
THIS is the only place I'm comfortable being social and talking on. Even then, you can tell I'm not that social as I'll not talk that much...
NOW. There are sites that have games and stuff that I like... Sites like Gaia (whoops, not logged in for eons), Kingdom of Knuffel, games on Facebook, blah blah blah.
However, with these sites, namely Gaia and KofK, it's kinda hard to get anywhere without either being social or throwing your money at them. And whenever you bring this up, people will reprimand you how it's a social site first and (in the case with KofK) "not an adoptables site" (which if you want to be anal, YES IT IS, it has ADOPTABLES. It's just not primarily an adoptable site). I feel like whenever you mention how you wish there was a less social way of making it through the site, these members go "Get your head out of your ass and be social" though they never use such language specifically.
Your thoughts on social sites and their treatment of not-as-social people?

Eh, of all the big social sites I only really use facebook, and I only really use that to talk to people I already know (and to post amusing things that my mum's said hurhur). One thing I can say is that there are a few social sites that are just screaming to be abused, Formspring to name one :/
But when it comes to sites where you meet new people I'm not too sure, I mean I'm chatty on Transformice (to the point where I was once told to shut up XD;) but that doesn't really count as it's not really a social site.
..Iunno, I think my problem on sites like that is that I'm a bit awkward and have difficulty typing things out in the way that they sounded in my head.

Hm, well, I've been getting rather tired of social sites. There wasn't much for me to do on Gaia, everything's now all money money. Tried Neopets but it was pretty shortlived lol.
And I've been considering for a while whether I should quit Facebook or not, I mean, most of the people I don't usually see are on there and I need them there in case I need something. So it's kind of like an "online phone" if you get what I mean.
I've always preferred that I DON'T always have to play with other people on these sites. Because I'm not that social either. Everything on them always tries to make you more social. I just think there needs to be a social/individual balance, not everyone ALWAYS feel social. But I don't know much of what I think of social sites, I just don't bother with them a great deal ._.

I prefers to be viewed as a private person rather than an anti-social. Many people keeps telling me to join facebook, while I keeps fighting the urge to yell "No!" and run away screaming.
Yes, I think facebook and other sites like it is overrated. Forums are better, least people here will have similar interests.

I use the word "quiet" to describe me. XD; But Private is a better word.
I have a FB page and MS page... I NEVER use the myspace one... Literally it was a case of "I made this account now shut the fuck up." Facebook was kinda the same, but then I started playin the games. But then I got bored with the games. I hate those sites so much too...

This and DeviantArt are my only online social sites, and I even stay away from DA every now and then *post pic and RUNS AWAY* I like small forums like this more since it's just a few of us and we get to know each and have fun more.
I absolutely refuse to get a facebook and it sickens me how many people are addicted to it. It's like cellphones, people just don't understand using in moderation.
I usually just talk on msn messenger. It's where you'll find me the most XD

This and DeviantArt are my only online social sites I forgot about deviantART! A fair number of my watchers are really creepy ;___; (there's one guy who just comments with "What did you make this with?" on EVERY SINGLE THING I POST.) |

I swear every deviation you submit has "this is inkwash" or whatever on it. . . Yea, I'm ish on dA. I get a lot of watchers who watches and that's it. I'm slowly losing interest with DA. It used to be a really fun place but now with too many changes and the 1000 search thing really does kill a lot of exposure chances for a lot of deviants. It's just kind of... I dunno. I'm happy to stick around so I can keep up with the good people on there but really *shrugs* I'm happy with this forum, I've already stated my reasons to a few people lol. It's nice and small, we get to know each other more. And love Zoids XD |

Yeah there's an overwhelming amount of idiots on DA. And since I accumulated zoid and TF fans I always get that 1 retarded TF fan that asks me "what transformer is this?" on a zoid pic DX

I'm still quite fond of Deviant Art, I love seeing and commenting on new stuff people are putting out there. There's some pretty cool pics/drawings and it keeps zoids Alive and fresh.
Facebook I have always hated, There are some things that should just not be shared or seen.... for instance when someone decides to have a bitch about someone or what my ex-girlfiend is up to (one of the biggest disasters for many)...I don't really care and don't want to know but it's all there, and my freaking mum is on Facebook , GAH! I can't delete her now it'd be rude. I just severly limit my status updates and cringe when people put photo's up.
So why do I still use it?? Because EVERYONE bloody well uses the damm thing to plan parties and social events and send out invites, If I aint on there I will gradually be forgotten about and miss out.
Myspace ,lol what a shortlived Joke... haven't touched the thing for years
Now This place is one of my Fav's , gotta love the smaller communities ^_^

I think the first social site I joined was a Peter Pan and the Pirates forum. Sadly it sort of lost activity. I got a Neopets account after that because that's what all the people at college were doing, and it was fun at first, especially when you logged into a computer to find the person who'd used it before you had neglected to log out of their account, but after a while the games got repetitive and I just lost interest. Then I logged back in after a while to discover my Skeith had eaten most of my inventory....
A friend tried to get me to join Elfwood, but they have incredibly strict rules on how your artwork should look to be allowed on. For instance, if you found an old piece of art you wanted to share but had got a little crumpled, tough, you can't share it. And you have to have your last name and the initial for your first name posted.
Although, I found this rule rather amusing "Users must be alive when signed up for Elfwood" It then links you to detailed rules of what to do should a member die.
I've still got my dA, but while I post up artwork there still, I don't reply to my messages as quickly as I used to. I have a facebook, but that only comes in handy for getting special offers (Used it to get a 2 for 1 ticket to see HTTYD) I have a Sheezyart, but while I've now started posting again, I get very little in the way of comments or faves now, so I don't really talk to people much (And their search is broken)
I tend not to like multiplayer creative stuff like Minecraft, Gmod or iScribble, just because if you're in a room or on a server where anyone can join, some prat can come in and destroy or erase what you made. I don't like that at all.
