I've simply used a buffer or my jeans to make the plastic go smooth, works well if the jean is at the right kind of roughness XD

If you can get a fine enough piece of sandpaper it should work okay without scratching too badly I believe. If I recall correctly Aquazoid comes with a fine piece of sandpaper for sanding the flash off his wheel.
The wet and dry I used to use at school was great for that too.

Yeah I have a fine sander and a nail buffer, they both do the job nicely if done with care ;D
