Review:
The NJR Liger Zero Phoenix is the second Liger Zero variant I acquired back when I first started importing. The box contains two kits. One is a Liger Zero recoloured in light blue, and the other is Fire Phoenix in dark blue. The Liger Zero Phoenix itself consists of the Liger Zero base with the Phoenix providing a replacement set of armour and weapons for the Liger's standard set.
Build wise I didn't find it to be overly complicated. The only issue I did find was that on mine the grey part on the top of the neck has issues staying in place, however once I got it into a position where it didn't pop off right away it generally stays there so it's not a big problem.
Being a Liger fan I tend to like all Ligers, but though I like the way it looks I wouldn't personally put the Liger Zero Phoenix among my top faves. That said I'm also not a fan of Blox which the Fire Phoenix is, so that could be the reason. I will admit however that if it wasn't for the fact that I obsess over displaying my Zoids complete if I've got all the pieces, then I would remove the guns and blox from it's back.
Liger Zero
On the flipside of what I think of the Liger Zero Phoenix, the recoloured Liger on its own is one of my favourite LZ colourschemes (Alongside the holotech pinkness of Liger Red Hiou) and due to that it was a while before I finally caved and got a standard white Liger Zero.
With it's standard armour Liger Zero gains a few more features. The boosters on its back can be opened along with the stabilizers on the side of its body for the running mode, and a pair of flaps can be opened on the side of its face.
Fire Phoenix
Sadly for me the Phoenix loses some appeal on its own. It has minimal features with just the opening canopy and mouth, and very limited posability. But I'll be fair. Fire Phoenix is one of the better blox designs, and certainly looks better on its own than some other Liger Zero CAS Zoids (*Cough* Jet Falcon *Cough), although I do think the red and yellow colour scheme of the Hasbro (Or metallic red and holotech yellow of the Fuzors) suits this Zoid better.
Conclusion
Over all I think it's worth having at least one Liger Zero Phoenix in your collection if you are a Liger fan. The Fuzors Liger Zero Phoenix has the holotech parts, but I would recommend this one for the blue Liger Zero.
My one quib is that the wide wings make it tough to display on a narrow shelf. Where I have mine displayed I had to fold one of the wings back.
As far as availability goes he's a lot less common than he was when I got him, which considering I got him within a year of his initial release is not really that surprising, however the Korean company Academy have since re-issued him, so it's probably going to be easier and cheaper to acquire that one.
