(So I'm on Chicken Smoothie, which is currently having a Medieval Faire... Someone is running a story-contest in which the winners could get a rare "roasted knight" dog. I requested that if I get first place, I only get one item off the first place group and not the dog itself since I already have one, but the story idea was too good to pass up. Posting here since I'm sure Deathy would like it. XD)
Knight's Name:
Pet's name: Sir Cinaed
Bard's Name: Odhran the Veridion (My CS username)
Other important Characters:
Pet's name: Draco
Story: (Trying to hit the tone of a bard so it's a weird writing style for me. Sorry XD; )
I come from a land where the typical dragons reign. They steal livestock and maidens and terrorize the towns, but with me I bring the story of a noble knight that protected the town and made peace!
The knight was named Sir Cinaed, placed to guard a small village on the edge of his lord's land, one frequented by the fiery beasts, namely a blue monster the town called Draco - not the most imaginative name, but they had to point out the leader with ease. The maidens and children feared going into the streets, and farmers could watch their flocks of sheep shrink day after day.
Eventually Sir Cinaed grew tired of simply waiting for the beast, so he searched out the monster's lair. The trip to the beast's mountain took days, which was only made longer by the need to wait for the great blue dragon to make his way home, leading the knight ever closer... Cinaed finally arrived shortly after Draco left for another hunt, only to discover the most bizarre layout within!
The maidens sat around a pile of wool sheered from the sheep by the dragon's sharp claws, weaving piles of blankets and nests, keeping the hatchlings and eggs warm through the cold night. A small flock of sheep were happily grazing on the mountains edge, kept alive for their woolen harvest, very few actually being sacrificed for food.
As Cinaed marveled over this strange twist of fate, one such egg just happened to hatch near his paws. The little winged lizard quickly bond to the first thing she saw - Sir Cinaed. He had no idea what to do as the little thing happily rubbed around his legs. Knights weren't supposed to BEFRIEND dragons! This was unheard of!
Just then, Draco returned with a fleet of his finest huntresses. With a snort and a growl, he set a plume of fire at the knight, leaving him dazed and charred. Just before he attacked again, the hatchling squeaked and perched herself upon Cinaed's shoulders, protecting him from further harm.
Cinaed tried to explain the problem to the dragon, how the people were afraid, and with the constant kidnappings, the town would suffer through the harsh winter ahead. The blue beast was quiet, listening to the knight's words, then moved his head slowly in a nod. They had come to an understanding!
Sir Cinaed not only stopped the evil actions of the draconic lord, but brought peace to the village, and the strangest unity ever witnessed. The dragons offered their firebreath to cook meats for the villagers and warm the hearths, while the villagers in return wove great blankets and nests for the dragons to sleep in, and they all lived happily ever after.
