Japan is an...interesting country (just look at its pr0n industry ) on the one hand it is the world leading area on otaku things (heck otaku is a Japanese word after all) and indeed it has some of the strangest perversions in the world and it has made an industry of them...on the other hand though you still seem to have remnants of the old Empire lurking in the background which don't seem to have gone away despite the years of US occupation and the rebuilding of Japan into a thoroughly western nation. It's at a crossroads now, between slipping back into the old ways or carrying on with the new, and to be honest with you the whole global slump does not help...the last time we had a massive global economic crash the Nazi party came to power in Germany. The Chinese have a saying, it's actually a curse, and it's one I always think of these days, it goes "May you live in interesting times."...and times are sure interesting of late.
