I was browsing this blog yesterday and came across this image, with a title which Google Translate gave me as "Northern ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ restart Tommy Zoids (゚∀゚) ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━!!!!" What do you guys make of this?

Haha wallet murder indeed! That silhouette looks suspiciously like it's going to be a high-end model.
It's really good to see Tomy actually interested in their own product again.

Hmm. I don't like to make too many assumptions this early, but the word "kit" catches my eye, so hopefully these won't be pre-made but the most important thing is Shield Liger.

Courtesy of Darwock on ZP
"OK, a little bit of translation now that I've calmed down.
The first line says that TOMYTEC are going to add a new category to the high skill miniature world [of Zoids]
The text box says (roughly) "2013 is the 30th year of Zoids and TOMYTEC are going to relaunch the scale model line. We have been doing this for a long time, so we have the know-how to produce kits with gimmicks and world-view". Don't ask me what they mean by that, but 'gimmicks' is a very strong indication that they will be motorized.
(*edit - for the doubters, all the motorized Zoids use the same word on the packaging to describe the walking action*)
The red box says "planned release this winter" (which as we learned from the d-style ultra effectively means next January).
The line at the bottom says "This project is currently under development"
I wonder which part of it is the tentative name? Surely not Zoids, maybe it's the "pre-painted action plastic kit" part."

Hafta say, I'm pretty psyched. I know I should wait until the actual products (and prices) are announced, but it's nice to know that the company is still willing to revisit the franchise and acknowledge it's anniversary.

Oh awesome! Seems like Tomy wants Zoids back after seeing Koto's success lol I'm thinking they're bringing back the motorized as well with the gimmick word though I wish they would go the Bandai Gundam route and make the basic poseable kits instead just because they would be way more cheaper. Poseable doesn't have to mean a billion parts. I do hope they do something new with them. I don't think just rehashing the same toy in a different box is going to work.

I really don't want to see more posables, Koto and Yamato are doing that route already... even if the Kotos have bazillions of parts or Yamato Zoids being weighing like a brick... I do want to see the motorizeds make a return because they're the reason I started Zoiding. Just seeing them stomp/walk across the floor and chomp their mouths or spin their weapons... and scaring the house pets! XD Or make them curious enough to come near it.
I mean... look at Valga... some people hated it but seeing that video Vargen made (I hope he's okay :S) of Valga tumbling across the floor, you gotta admit it is really awesome ;D Energy Liger's air hoses was pretty cool too. And I do hope TOMY will continue to find new innovation for motion... it's what keeps me wondering.
And I know it's a long shot but.... I hope to see them actually bring out Dark Deathy and Dark Helcat too XD

I always found that really interesting about the zoid fandom compared to other fandoms that have a heavy toy or model kit history, that is being extremely attached to the nostalgia of the motorized toys when the other fandoms crave more poseability. It probably goes without saying that I've never had that attachment to the motorized models and I honestly always feel very isolated from the zoid fandom for that reason. I was thinking more poseable zoid models for the people who cannot afford the Kotos and are too afraid to make their motorized zoids poseable.

Well, if we're going on what we think about motorized versus poseable, I'll throw my two cents in....
A zoid is a zoid is a zoid. I'll always love zoids, be they motorized or poseable, just as long as I can build them myself, and IMO, nitpicking over motorized versus poseable is a potayto potahto deal. Who cares? They're still giving them attention, putting them on the market. It's not suffering like most of my other fandoms usually do, either getting ridiculously retarded as time goes on (card games on motorcycles), slowly falling off the face of the planet (Stormhawks), never hitting it big to begin with (Shinzo) or me jumping on the bandwagon too fucking late (Stealth). At least they're still making them, remaking them, catering to both the nostalgic with the anniversary releases and zoids graphics; and the pose-centric with HMM and Yamato. As someone who suffers from losing fandoms, all the debate and fuss over it being or not being motorized is nothing short of aggravating.
At least it's alive. Take it or leave it.

Oh don't get me wrong, I can care less which they make because I can always butcher LOL It's just fun playing the guessing game of what Tomy's going to do.

And you always butcher just the right way. XD Me, I screw up, so I don't trust myself to butcher HMMs otherwise, whoops, there goes hella lotta money. And I really don't care if someone prefers one over the other, but I'm just a wee bit tired of some people going off about HMMs not being "real/proper zoids", then add to it, I'm (obviously) going through withdraw on fandoms that have died, dorked or just disappeared (Hence Ace)... So I read the 'not a proper zoid' into things and just got ... mad. Sorry! ^^;;

I'd be too afraid to modify a HMM into something else, but that is why I like the motorizeds on top of what I've already said. They're cheaper and easier to work into something completely different. Be exciting to see if they make anything that has never been done before... more custom ideas :B
