so how do you do it? i plan on making a custom CAS unit for my new liger (which should arrive soon ) and i'm not sure how. do i need to cut pieces of plastic and mold them to shape? i read something somewhere about plasti-putty? -Kane

You can make them however you want. Some people use parts from Zoids or other mech kits, some use putty to shape those parts, and those with the cash and the means create their own parts out of resin, but that's the hardest type.
Could always try sculpty clay (Though you'd need to look that up, I've never tried it)

I usually make my parts from other zoids. The blades I used for Sable wolf had Blade-liger blade arms affixed to the pegs where the smoke-stacks used to sit, and within the arms was put the booster from a Fury, with a single buster-blade fitted inside. (I've sadly lost my pics, so I can't show you unless I take more pics.)
So it's fun to mix up parts to make new parts. X3

well that's just kit-bashing. i meant like entirely new shoulder armor and such for the CAS...

I see it used in plush dolls a lot so I don't see why it can't work on Zoids
