It especially sucks when Skype doesn't work for me, fails utterly at IM logging, doesn't give a notification sound if you change it and won't fucking remember that I said NO I don't want to friend randomballsassname, BLOCKHIM.

Strange timing for me, as of about 2 days ago I decided not to bother with msn anymore, None of my friends seem to use it anymore. Now here I find out it's closing , I'm pretty much Meh

@wiki: What's that other one you normally use? If the petition doesn't work and MSN does go tits up I might join you on that.
@vig: See this is the thing, if you don't have a reason to use it then that's fine, but they're not taking into account that some people have all their friends on there. I mean I load up MSN every single day. It's the first thing I do when the computer loads.

I use AIM mostly, MSN is a close second. Trillian has my Yahoo that mom and Amber use but that's the least used, I really only keep Trillian up so I know when mail comes or when mom needs me. (Trillian uses Yahoo because Yahoo IM started fucking me shit up with popups.)

...So I guess this rules out the possibility of a properly functioning official Mac Messenger?
I signed the petition last night, I do use Skype as well as msn, but argh it'll be a real nuisance if they do close it, I just really prefer msn and I have never got on with AIM. Microsoft why you make life difficult?

I loved using msn, had done since I started using the computer many many years ago, I don't even know what people use anymore and why they stopped using msn. People just seem to expect to chat on facebook now, I Hate talking on facebook, and having to keep the page open, that place is becoming a necessary evil.
I did recently add a skype account out of curiosity but I haven't yet bothered to search for people on it

I use Skype mainly for vid calls. And it's a shame MSN'll be closing, I like the custom emoticons options and text customization.
Never bothered with AIM anymore, haven't touched it since last year. And stopped using YIM years ago. And as for Facebook chat, there is an IM service that allows you to use it without needing the page open iirc (well it seems AIM can do it too).
Oh well, will be using Skype, majority of my MSN buddies are on there if msn does close. And I have some on Steam and some on FB. As much as I hate the monetization of some Skype features, nobody else likes AIM or YIM.

Wow this totally sucks for the msn messanger only users. Totally signing the petition because it's ridiculous to force people to use something else if they don't want to (way to have pride in your product) -_-b
I got Skype for chatting with liger inuzuka way back and I honestly like it way more than msn. The latest messanger just pissed me off with the absurd amount of ad-ons and useless crap (like that share thing EVERY time I send a pic or youtube vid) Oi does that annoy me. If anyone knows how to disable that, please do tell!
@ Wiki: Wow I've seriously never ever had those problems with IM logging or blocking O.o Can't say about the sounds though cuz I mute those in every IM program.
